Materials Available for Designer Kitchens in Centurion and Pretoria East
I work in a wide range of materials from Melawood to solid wood. Melawood is available in a wide range of finishes like peen, linear, Supagloss and Supamatt.
Peen Melawood finish
Peen is the classic stippled finish most commonly used especially when using solid colours from Ice White to Superblack. It is a durable easy to clean surface and is most budget friendly. If you are on a tight budget you may opt for picco white with a peen finish, this is also the material used for cabinet internals or carcasses. In the peen finish there is a wide range of colours from the solid colours to the wood finishes and structural finishes.
Linear Melawood finish
The linear finish simulates wood grain and is most popular on the wood grain range. Woodgrains come in a wide range of colours from Black Cherry to Wenge, from the lightest to the darkest. Some of the solid colours are also available with Linear finish.
Natural Touch Melawood
A soft velvety matt finish that creates a very sophisticated wood finish, This is the recipe for a very sophisticate look in your dream kitchen.
Fusion Melawood finish
Fusion is a premium finish designed to create a very realistic and elegant wood feel. It is also available in the structural and stone boards.
SupaMatt and SupaGloss
Whether you like the bling of high gloss finishes or prefer the understated matt look, there is a board to make your kitchen design pop.
What should I budget for my dream kitchen in Centurion?
This question is akin to asking how long a piece of string is, but as an answer that would be as useful as a bicycle to a fish. Materials will obviously affect budgets, Melamine would be the most budget friendly, solid wood the least, Counter tops like Formica are most budget friendly followed by quartz and hard wood tops being the dearest.
Recent installs have started at about R 65 000 for a 3m x 3m Melamine kitchen, R 95 000 for a 5m x 3m kitchen and R 120 000 for a 6 x 3m kitchen plus a scullery with Quartz tops.

Formica tops can reduce prices a little but having said that Quartz adds panache and longevity.
Your dream kitchens pricing may vary due to the materials chosen, Quartz can vary in price from R 2500/m2 to R 7000/m2 depending on the colour range.
The most expensive kitchen in the examples above had many drawers, and few cupboards with shelving, It also included aluminium framed glass doors, Small things can have a big effect on pricing.
Minimum budgets should be between R 40 000 for a small kitchen and R 80 000 for an average sized kitchen in Centurion.
Kitchen Installation timeline at Centurion Kitchens
At Centurion Kitchens, I do one project at a time, every new project gets added to the schedule in sequence. Starting dates for any project will be determined by what currently is in the sequence. Different types of kitchen installs have different delivery times,
A Melamine kitchen may have a manufacturing time of 1 week as most of the project get's assembled on site, so all that is needed in manufacturing is cutting and edging,
A painted kitchen may take 3 - 4 weeks to manufacture as the doors are made in the studio and painted either by hand or spray painted,
A solid wood kitchen can take up to 6 weeks to manufacture.
Installation will be scheduled when manufacturing is almost done and all other prior projects are completed. Installs can take anything from 1 week to 3 depending on the size of the kitchen.
Scheduling plumbing electrical and tiling should be done in the following sequence, Plumbing and electrical work requiring wiring or piping should be done after stripping of the existing kitchen, prior to floor tiling, Floor tiling should be done prior to installation, all connections should be done after installation is complete, wall tiling and painting are done last.
Centurion Kitchens do not do plumbing, electrical, tiling and painting of walls and ceilings.
